Dear Arts Argument:
Re: Céline Dion , the National Order of Québec (April 30) and the Order of Canada (May 1) (Dion centre of political tug-of-war, March 27)
If its National awards that Céline is badly in need of why not make a week of it. April 28 appears the best day for the newly united National Citizens Coalition/Association des Grand Frères et Grandes Souers du Québec to present Ms.Dion with their “Bridal Dress Award for Family Values” as April 29 is already booked by the Association of Canadian Advertisers to recognise the singer with their “TransCanada Washroom Vending Machines Award for Saturated Marketing.” The only downside to such generous fêting of Canadian supersnores like David “Tears Are Not Enough But Will Have To Do” Foster and Céline “No Jagged Little Pill” Dion is that it does little to prevent performance artists find themselves in museums throwing up on perfectly harmless works of art.
