We shouldn’t fault provincial educational systems for the spitball antics of those ‘back to basics’ politicians hell bent on reminding us that as students they flunked History.

Black, White, Read All Over
I initiated this blog by archiving some 76 letters written between 1992-1998 and then more later to the Globe and Mail. For years I carried increasing numbers of boxes of the newspaper between cities intending to write some longer media studies essays to thicken the letter-writing habit. Throughout the 1990s I used the Globe as a useful archival source of statements for essays on art, media and politics that appeared in Fuse and subsequently in case studies published in Policy Matters.
Productive in considering some distinctions between 'criticism' and 'analysis,' Lawrence Grossberg observes that critics frequently become doomsayers if all they do is witness and chronicle "the impending if not continuous victory of the dominant forces or of their impending overthrow."
